Course Notes

Here are some of the elements of the course.

Right now the plan is to offer it as a set of videos available online.

It's about 2 hours of video, walking through the concepts then applying them to about 1 year of trading data.  The concept works for all markets, but the examples are on EUR/USD.

It shows:

  • how to define trends and consolidations
  • the 2 strategies and how to apply them to each market condition
  • how to 'shift gears' as the market transitions between trends and ranges (and vice versa)
  • the 3 indictors that are used to analyze and trade
  • the difference between analysis and trading
  • 3 conditions that make up a consolidation/range
  • where to place entries, stops and targets for ranges
  • 3 entry methods of trends
  • 2 exit criteria for trends and why we don't use targets

Here's how it works...

STEP 1: Fire up your charting software (this can be the free charts that most brokers offer, or from online), and plot 3 indicators.

STEP 2: You'll start off using the first indicator to get a read on the market. It will help you decipher whether the market is in a trend or a range.

STEP 3A: If you're in a range you'll use the second indicator to confirm when is the right time to start applying the range trading strategy. (Just because you're in a range DOES NOT mean you should start trading it.) You'll use this strategy until the market indicates it's time for the trend to take over.

STEP 3B: If you're in a trend you'll use the third indicator along with the trend trading strategy to time your entries, set your stops and look for more entry points. This allows you to really maximize extended trends and gives you a way to get into trends you might have initially missed! You'll use this strategy until a range appears when price hits 'indicator 1'.

Then as the market alternates from trend to range and back, you'll simply flow from one strategy to the other all based on what 'indicator 1' dictates.

That's it - 3 steps...

I know it sounds almost TOO obvious when I explain the process like this, but I think that's really where most systems miss the boat, they overcomplicate and focus on the wrong things.  And that's why I think most people struggle to really make it in the markets.
